比較の応用 — like / better / best / 書きかえ
「〜の方が好き」「最も好き」「より大きいほどより〜」など、中学比較で頻出の応用表現と、原級・比較級・最上級の書きかえを学びます。
基本ルール
like A better than B（B より A の方が好き）、like A (the) best of/in 〜（〜の中で A が一番好き）。これは比較・最上級の特殊形でとても頻出。
The 比較級, the 比較級（〜すればするほど…）：「The more you study, the better you become.（勉強すればするほど上達する）」。
which / who を使った比較疑問文：「Which is bigger, A or B?（A と B どちらが大きい？）」「Who runs faster, Tom or Ken?（トムとケンどちらが速く走る？）」。
原級↔比較級↔最上級の書きかえ：3通りで同じ意味を表せる重要パターン。
I like dogs better than cats.（猫より犬の方が好き）
I like soccer the best of all sports.（スポーツの中でサッカーが一番好き）
The older we get, the wiser we become.（年を取るほど賢くなる）
Which season do you like best?（どの季節が一番好きですか）
注意点
① 書きかえパターン（A is taller than B. と同じ意味を3通りで）：
- 比較級：A is taller than B.
- 否定の原級：B is not as tall as A.
- 最上級＋否定：No one is taller than A. / A is the tallest in the group.
② like 〜 better / best は中学でも頻出。「I like coffee better than tea.（紅茶よりコーヒーが好き）」「She likes blue the best.（青が一番好き）」。
③ The 比較級, the 比較級 の構文は「2つの量・程度が連動して変化する」関係を表す。「The harder you work, the more money you earn.（働けば働くほど稼げる）」。
④ Which / Who 〜 比較級 〜, A or B? の形は二者択一の質問でよく使う。「Who is taller, you or your brother?」答えは「I am. / He is.」のように短く答える。
- like A better than B = B より A が好き
- like A (the) best of/in 〜 = 〜の中で A が一番好き

- 原級・比較級・最上級は書きかえ可能
練習
- 「私は数学より英語の方が好きだ」を英語で書きなさい。
- 次の文を比較級を使って書きかえなさい：No other mountain in Japan is higher than Mt. Fuji.
- 「勉強すればするほど賢くなる」を The 〜, the 〜 を使って書きなさい（study / get smart）。
