部分的英訳ミス防止 — 比較・否定・数量

和文英訳で生徒が頻繁にミスする3領域 — 比較・否定・数量 — を集中的に整理します。

基本ルール

① 比較のミス：
- 「父より背が高い」→ I am taller than my father.（× than father、my を忘れない）
- 「日本のどの山より富士山が高い」→ Mt. Fuji is higher than any other mountain in Japan.（other を忘れない）
- 「3倍速い」→ 3 times as fast as / 3 times faster than（口語）
- 「比べ物にならないほど良い」→ much better / far better / incomparably better
② 否定のミス：
- 「すべてが〜というわけではない」→ Not all（部分否定）「Not all rich people are happy.」
- 「誰も〜ない」→ No one / Nobody（全体否定）「No one knows the answer.」
- 「いつも〜とは限らない」→ not always「She is not always kind.」
- 「必ずしも〜ではない」→ not necessarily「This is not necessarily true.」
- 「決して〜ない」→ never / not ~ at all「I will never forget.」
- 「〜することができない」否定の位置に注意：「I don't think he will come.（彼が来るとは思わない）」← 英語では think を否定（日本語の「来ない」を think に移動）
③ 数量のミス：
- 可算 vs 不可算：「お金がたくさん」→ much money（× many money）/ a lot of money（両方可）
- 「少しの〜」→ a few + 可算複数 / a little + 不可算「a few books / a little water」
- 「ほとんど〜ない」→ few + 可算 / little + 不可算「few books / little time」（a なし）
- 「2人とも / 3人とも」→ both（2人）/ all three（3人以上）「Both of them are smart.」
- 「半分の〜」→ half of / half the「half of the students / half the class」
- 「2倍 / 3倍」→ twice / three times「twice as many / three times the size」

注意点

① 「〜以上 / 〜以下」の境界：「20歳以上」= 20 or older（20を含む）、「20歳より上」= over 20 / older than 20（20を含まない）。日本語の「以上」「以下」は境界を含む。
② 「同じ〜」→ as ~ as：「同じ大きさ」= as big as / the same size as.
③ 「より優れている」superior to / 「より劣る」inferior to：than ではなく to を使う特殊な比較。「This is superior to that.」
④ 倍数表現の語順：「times + 比較級/原級 + than/as」「3 times bigger / 3 times as big as」。「× bigger 3 times」
⑤ 否定疑問文への答え：「Don't you like coffee?（コーヒー好きじゃないの？）」← 好きなら Yes, I do.（日本語では「いいえ、好きです」）。英語は答えの中身に従う。

練習

1. 「私のスマホはあなたのより新しい」を英訳しなさい（比較の正しい形で）。
2. 「全ての学生が試験に合格するとは限らない」を英訳しなさい（部分否定）。
3. 「私には時間がほとんどない」を英訳しなさい（little を使う、a なし）。
