Let’s learn to count and say colors and shapes in English. These are useful words for shopping and games.
Basic Rules
Numbers are one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and ten. Colors include red, blue, yellow, green, white, and black. Shapes are called circle, triangle, square, and star. Use "This is ..." when saying “This is ...”.
How many apples?(How many apples?)— Three apples.(Three.)
This is red.(This is red.)
I like circles.(I like circles.)
Notes
When saying numbers, the Japanese words “ichi, ni, san” and the English words “one, two, three” are completely different. Repeat the numbers from 1 to 10 many times to remember them. English words for colors and shapes are sometimes used in Japanese as katakana words such as “reddo” and “saakuru,” so you have probably heard many of them before. When there are two or more things, add -s to the noun (apple → apples).
