Binary Numbers

In this lesson, you will learn about “binary numbers,” one of the most important concepts in how computers work. Rather than memorizing words alone, aim to explain the system and the reasons behind it in your own words.

Key Point
Binary numbers use only 0 and 1, and the place value doubles from right to left: 1, 2, 4, 8, and so on.
Important Points
  • Check the reason, not just the conclusion
  • Distinguish similar terms and exceptions
  • Try applying the same way of thinking to other examples

Practice

  1. Explain the key point in two sentences.
  2. Give one common misunderstanding and explain what is different about it.
  3. Check your understanding by applying it to a familiar or specific example.
